Ok, I am having too gosh darn much fun participating in these Dirty Challenges! So here's my dare to you: If you aren't already a SCS Fan Club member, what are you waiting for??? Jump on in and join the party!!! *grin* Without further ado, here are my cards from Thursday's round of challenges . . .
This first challenge was hosted by Sharon Johnson (notimeto stamp). She asked us simply to create an "elegant" card. I decided right away to use some bits and pieces from the new Secret Garden Simply Scrappin' Kit, which coordinates with the Tapestry collection. I also used some lucious taffeta ribbon and a handmade hatpin. No, it is not from the Prettie collection. I made about a dozen of these upon the release of last year's catty from SU! They used one on the cover in their Artfully Asian card and I loved the look! This card is going out to a very special person who could use some blessings!
The next challenge was hosted by blogger friend and sweetie extraordinare, Beate Johns! Beate's challenge was a sketch, and y'all *know* how I love her sketches! This one was no exception, and I decided straightaway to go with a Western theme. I picked out a few swatches from the Outlaw ds papers and used my Bronc Buster set to complete the card. I am so happy to finally have a masculine set in my collection. I don't know a whole lot of cowboys, but I guess it'll do! *wink*
For the next challenge, Lauren Meader (mytime) asked us to use flock on our cards. I no longer own any flock, so I thought I was going to have to sit this one out. *pout* But, I racked my brain and remembered that I still had some fuzzy paisley run-ons by Heidi Swapp and decided to make a go of it! To go along with Lauren's play on words, I used this patterned paper by Basic Grey from the Phoebe collection, a Hero Arts bird image, and this sentiment from A Muse to create my own little flock! *grin* This is not really my style of card, but I guess that is why it is called a challenge - lol!
For yesterday's final challenge, Jen del Muro (genie1314) was back again and asked us to create a card using only clear stamps. I *knew* I wanted to break in my new PaperTrey set - Corners and Borders: Oval. I also decided to incorporate this neat idea I had seen while cruisin' the SCS gallery last week by katydidAW. She has the templates for the seed packets up on her blog and there are tons of different ones - so fun! The pocket is made from patterned paper by Fancy Pants Designs. I used Wild Wasabi for the mega scalloped oval, stamped the stitched oval outline on Groovy Guava and cut it out, and punched a vanilla extra jumbo scalloped oval for the center. I am looking forward to playing with these templates some more in the near future!
*phews* I am tired after typing all of that, but I am off to participate in today's round of challenges. I am not likely to have much time to stamp this weekend, so I will have alot of catching up to do come Monday if I want to meet my goal!
