Reader Appreciation!!!

Valentine's Day is less than a month away, and what better way to let *you* know how much I appreciate you than with free stamps!!!!! I found these cute little guys at Michaels and though they would make perfect blog candy for you!!! So, how do I win them you ask? All you have to do is comment on this post and let me know what your favorite Valentine's Day treat is and why. I'll go first! I know that when most people think of cutout cookies, they think of Christmas, but not me! When I was little, my mom used to make Valentine cookies with us as a special treat. We would make heart cutouts and decorate them with yummy icing and those little conversation hearts. My mom would also make giant heart cutouts and print our names on them in icing as part of out Valentine's Day presents. Even when I was in college my mom would send my cookie to me in a care package for Valentine's Day! I guess that is why I love to bake so much, because it reminds me of my mom. And now I enjoy baking them with my daughter too! So, please share your favorite Valentine's Day treat with me, and I will choose a winner on Friday evening. Who's next? ;)

In High school we used to have a hearts contest. Each class will make a heart out of whatever (candy, flowers, cut paper, etc)
One year my class made a huge heart with carnations (red & white) candy (red & white) and red grapes. It was the best so.... we won!

My aunt used to bake, decorate and sell the BEST cakes. When I was a kid she would bake a mini round cake for each of my classmates, decorate them with frosting flowers, and put the child's name on each one. So, I love cake with buttercream icing for Valentines Day!

My favorite Valentine treat are the chocolate covered peanut butter eggs. I know you can get them year-round, but there is just something about eating them on V-day...YUMMY!! :)

Hmmmm, well, I never thought to make anything special for Vday. But now that you mention it and now that I have my 3.5 y/o DS now would be the time to start a tradition. I think I'll have to find me a good sugar cookie recipe so we can decorate them!

(If I were to buy some candy it would have to be those small cinnimon hearts!)

Hi! I'd have to say that my favorite Valentine's treats are the NECCO conversation hearts. That's the first thing I go rummaging for when the kids get home with their goody bags! ;)

These are cute! I really need to get to M's soon! My favorite V day tradition is a memory. My mom and I used to make Valentine Rice Crispy treat hearts. She would tint the marshmallow red and I would try to make hearts (I say try because it was so sticky it was difficult and most of the stuff wound up in our tummies!!)
That was fun and I think I want to try it this year! Thanks for the memory!

When I was in high school we always made a huge heart shaped popcorn ball (using red food coloring in the sticky liquid) as a fund raiser for FHA. We would wrap 5 silver dollars in Saran Wrap and stick those into the heart. (This thing was BIG!!!) Then we would raffle it off at the Friday night basketball game closest to the holiday.
As my kids came along I would make heart shaped popcorn balls for them at Valentine's Day. They weren't as big, and they didn't have the silver dollars attached, but they sure were good!

My fav Valentine treat would have to be anything choc. I'm not fussy well, I really don't care much for the boxed chocolates but do like choc bars. LOL
